Nikon Announces D3100

NOTE: Amazon is taking pre-orders for the D3100 kit here.

Nikon just announced its D3100 DSLR camera, which is a video-enhanced upgrade to the popular D3000, which itself replaced the D40.

Here are the main improvements over the D3000:

  • 1080p video recording
  • 14.2 megapixel sensor
  • live view mode
  • ISO range extended to 12,800

If you don’t need video, I would check out a refurbished D3000 kit for just $375 at Adorama. Even a refurbished D5000 kit, which goes for about $520 at Adorama would be a better deal for the money if you’re not into video.
