UPDATE: Check out my Panasonic LX5 Review
Goods news for point & shoot lovers – the Panasonic LX5 is coming.
Successor to the very popular LX3, the LX5 takes that feature set and extends it with the following.
- max ISO goes from 3200 to 12800
- Leica lens extends from 24mm to 90mm (LX3 went to 60mm)
- records video at 1280X720 60p (CCD output is 30p, whatever that means) AVCHD Lite
- options optical and electronic viewfinders
The LX3 was one of the best point & shoots ever made, and Panasonic obviously isn’t messing with the formula. The LX5 is an LX3 on steroids, and that’s a good thing. The LX3 did low-light great, had a fantastic f/2.0 Leica lens, and was a great macro shooter.
If you need a great point & shoot right now, the Canon S90 simply can’t be beat at its current price, but the LX5 should be pretty sweet when it does come.
