Melbourne-based photographer Stuart Forsyth just posted a nice demonstration of the capabilities of the 64-bit version of PictureCode’s Noise Ninja plug-in for Aperture 3. In a portrait of a child, Noise Ninja did an admirable job of cleaning up the noise in the image.
I generally shy away from using Aperture’s noise-reduction function because it can rob some detail, especially when used in conjunction with the sharpness control, but I’d definitely be inclined to use the more robust Noise Ninja.
What’s more is that the Noise Ninja package costs just $79.99 on Amazon. In one package, you get both Mac and PC versions of Noise Ninja in both the plug-in and stand-alone form.
