Apple just announced it is updating Aperture to version 3.02 with improved stability in a number of areas:

The key areas addressed include:

* Upgrading Aperture 1.x and 2.x libraries
* Importing libraries from iPhoto or from earlier versions of Aperture
* Importing hierarchical folders of photos into a library
* Adding names and confirming matches in Faces
* Reordering snapshots on the Faces corkboard
* Creating and saving print presets
* Duplicating metadata presets
* Adjustments using Curves, Straighten and Retouching
* Navigation of photos in the Viewer using scrolling
* Importing ratings, color labels and GPS data from XMP sidecar files
* IPTC metadata compatibility
* Deleting photos when emptying the Aperture Trash
* Exporting versions and libraries
* The update is recommended for all users of Aperture 3.

Aperture GPS still has a big bug for me that doesn’t appear in iPhoto; you can’t have any photos in the Arctic circle. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit spitsbergen (http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Bracknell,+Berkshire+RG12+7FS,+United+Kingdom&ll=78.025574,16.567383&spn=2.048818,14.589844&t=h&z=6) but the map in Aperture 3 doesn’t go that far north. No problems in iphoto.

It’s frustrating to have visited such an amazing place and not have it appear on the map!
